Teaching Reluctant Reader (Learner)

New Term: Dormant Reader,
sound good, Izz the dormant reader. This term brings hope.

Students might be reluctant to read because they:
  • can read competently but over time reading competes with things like sports, video games, social media, texting, or talking with friends 
  • (true with Izz's case. Video games. Sports not a problem for me)

  • struggle to read, can tell they are having difficulty, and develop an aversion 
  • (what is his struggle?)
  •  
  • are skillful readers, but prefer to choose their own reading and are suspicious of the books adults want them to read 
  • (hmm he choose comics and started reading some of the texts there)

  • can't find books they like. 
  • (maybe. right now what i can see is he hates any books)


To look for books ;that make him laugh.
