wa   makaruu            makran kubbaran
and  the have planned   a very great plan
     they have plotted  a mighty plot

qaala   nuuHun: [yaa] rabbi [y]    'inna   hum      
he said  nuh   My Lord              surely they 

AaSau          niy 
have disobeyed me

wa  ittabaAuu      man   lam   yazid           hu
and they followed  who   dnot  have added (to) him

maalu  hu wa  waladu  hu 'illaa Qasaaran
wealth    and children    but   loss

li        taslukuu[na]          min    haa   subulan   fijaajan
so that   y'all walk            from   her   roads     wide
That you may go along   therein  in wide paths.
That ye may thread the  thereof  valley-ways .
'That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.

sabiyl: road, pl. subul
salaka, yasluku: to walk

071.19

wa allahu jaQala   lakumu  l'arDa     bisaaTan
And Allah has made for you the earth  a wide expanse,
                                      as a carpet (spread out),

071.18

xumma            yuAiidu                   -kum               
Then             He returns                you               
And afterward    He maketh return thereto,                           
'And in the End  He will return                   

fiihaa 
to it
into the earth

wa    yuQriju              -kum   'iQraajan
then  will He bring forth  you    a (new) bringing forth:
and                               a (new) forthbringing.
      raise                       forth (again at the                                               Resurrection)?

071.17

wa allahu  'anbata             -kum  mina    
And Allah  has made grow       you  out of  
           hath caused to grow   
           has produced                                  


l'arDi     nabaatan
the earth  as a growth
           growing (gradually)

071.16

wa  jaAala    lQamara  fiihinna  nuuran 
And made      the moon therein   a light, 
    hath made   
                                 a light in their midst, 

wa jaAala lcamsa   siraajan
and made  the sun  a lamp?
                   a (Glorious) Lamp?
