[Shakir 81:1] When the sun is covered,
[Pickthal 81:1] When the sun is overthrown,
[Yusufali 81:1] When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up;

*notes: Normally when the Arab speaks, the verb is used first. In this surah, notice the style and tonne that Allah used. The primary audience is the worst of kaafir who were in denial. Allah is saying to them by putting the noun first.

'ivaa: when. 'iv is for the past. 'ivaa is for the future. Here, something in the future that's guarantee will happen;inevitable.;
kuwwirat: to wrap something . like folding a long turban, the light of the sun is being wrapped out little by little.
